Anyone taking part – or are indeed considering doing so - in July’s UKFast We Love Manchester 10K have been offered an extra incentive with race organiser Sports Tours International pledging to give £1 to charity for every entry received.
The donation will go directly to the We Love MCR Charity and assist with the city’s Lord Mayor of Manchester’s vision of 'Give a Little, Help a Lot'. News of the pledge will further strengthen the ties the 10k has established with the city since its inception in 2008, a relationship underlined by the fact the event has come to be known affectionately as the 'People’s Race'. Chris Bird, CEO of organiser Sports Tours International, provided further details of the partnership: “Helping the charity through the UKFast We Love Manchester 10K is something we are delighted to be able to do. We work in Manchester and are passionate about making a difference in the city.”
Chris added: “The £1 per entry donation is something that will make a huge difference to so many people. We hope businesses in the area feel the same and will fundraise for those less fortunate than themselves while having a great time training and completing the race.” This feeling was echoed by the Lord Mayor, Carl Austin-Behan: “We are delighted to once again be the official charity partner of the UKFast We Love Manchester 10K”
Scheduled for Sunday 9 July, the 10k will again see competitors start at the regional athletics track before heading out to the Etihad Stadium, home of Manchester City FC. In addition to its reputation as one of the friendliest races on the circuit, the We Love Manchester 10K has strong PB potential - 2016 saw Mohammed Abu-Rezeq record a winning time of 30:33, with many in the field posting their strongest times of the year.
Entries for the 2017 edition of the UKFast We Love Manchester are now open, with an early bird rate of £16 (£14 affiliated) running until 31 January. Registration details are available at the event website.
