Go Beyond Sport have just informed runABC South that their popular four-race, multi-terrain ultra series for 2018 is rapidly reaching capacity with Country to Capital 45-mile on Saturday, 13 January already operating a waiting list.
The series comprises Country to Capital 45 (Wendover to Little Venice) on 13 January; Thames Trot 50, 'The Boat Race' (Oxford to Henley) on 3 February; Northampton Ultra 35, 'Shires and Spires' on 20 May and Round Ripon Ultra 35 promoted by Ripon Runners in the stunning Yorkshire Dales in October.
The first three events will celebrate their 10th anniversary having come an appropriately long way since Country to Capital was launched in 2008 with just 39 starters. Entrants are advised that Thames Trot 50 is also nearly full and there is already strong interest in the Northampton Ultra 35.
The 2017 Country to Capital champions were Wyclef Forbes (Cirencester, 4:55:13) and Ali Young (Chiltern Harriers, 5:54:49) and there were more than 300 finishers in nine hours. The top 18 finishers were inside six hours and 80 reached Little Venice within seven hours.
Go Beyond Sport was founded by former GB international sailor and Ironman triathlete, Steve Adams, who also set up the charity Teach Africa in 2005 which has helped fund secondary education for some of the brightest children from Nairobi's slums. Go Beyond Sport events donate proceeds towards Teach Africa charitable projects.
