If cycling has the Tour de France, it seems running now has its very own version in The Tour of Merseyside. The event, organised by btrLiverpool, has opened registration for 2014, with more than 200 of 300 entry places already taken up.
This year's inaugural event, which was concluded last week, saw Salford duo Anthony Taylor and Hayley Winder take the proverbial yellow t-shirt as they finished the tour on top. The pair completed the tour in composite times of 5 hours 12 minutes and 6 hours 42 minutes respectively.
Beginning on 7 July with Southport half marathon, runners attempted six different races over different distances, varying terrain, and all crammed into just seven days. Over the course of the week, competitors covered a total of 52 miles.
