GO Run For Fun, the ground-breaking campaign to get children involved in exercise, is back with a bang for 2016. Having encouraged more than 100,000 kids to get running through 190 worldwide fun events, the GO Run For Fun campaign is already the biggest children’s running initiative in the world.

More than 750 primary schoolchildren, GO Run For Fun mascot Dart and GO Run For Fun ambassador, Olympic long jumper Chris Tomlinson came together to kick off the first INEOS GO Run For Fun event of 2016. Children from 16 schools took part at Eastbourne Sports Complex in Darlington last week.

This year, GO Run For Fun is developing a series of exciting educational resources starring campaign mascot Dart, to help children learn the importance of an active life and healthy nutrition.

Chris Tomlinson said: “GO Run For Fun is an easy way to inspire children to get out of the house and have fun with their friends, whilst doing something healthy. It’s also a great way to kick start the imaginations of the next generation who may be thinking about becoming Olympians one day.”

The GO Run For Fun campaign is the idea of INEOS boss Jim Ratcliffe, who has establishing the GO Run For Fun charitable foundation with a £1.5m donation spread over three years. He explained: “The idea is simple – to get children out of the house having fun. It is not rocket science.  Running is the basis of so many great sports. If our children can catch the running bug early, they’re more likely to stick to it, and this can only lead to them having more active and healthier lifestyles.”

GO Run For Fun will continue to tour the UK throughout 2016 with other events planned for Hampshire, London, Birmingham, Nottingham, Derby, Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow and Edinburgh to name a few.  For more information and to enter your child for INEOS GO Run For Fun events happening near you, or to register your local club or school’s interest in joining the campaign, visit the GO Run For Fun website.
