Greater Manchester Businesses On Their Marks

The Business Trophy at both races will be hotly contestedThere’s nothing quite like the camaraderie that comes with entering a work team to a local race – comprising training schedules, race tactics and the determination of raising money all make for healthy staffroom chat. As such, two of the north west’s leading events, the UKFast We Love Manchester 10K and UKFast City of Salford 10K, are encouraging more businesses to get their workforce “on the move”.

The push comes after the races received backing from the Manchester Chamber of Commerce, with both offering the option for workforces to compete for their much sought after Business Trophy at the events at Manchester (9 July) and Salford (3 September).

The competition is open to businesses of all sizes, with the only stipulation being a minimum of three team members needing to participate. Businesses who have entered teams into these races in 2016 included UKFast, Decathlon Sports, University of Salford, KPMG, Toni & Guy and many more.

Kevin Harmer of Sports Tours International, organiser of the Manchester and Salford races, commented: “We are delighted to have the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce on board for our two key 10k events in the region, helping businesses to spread the important message of health, wellbeing and charity fundraising throughout their workforce.

On the benefits of a healthy workforce, Kevin added: “More and more these days businesses are needing to think of the well being of their staff and come up with creative ways to raise money for their nominated charity – so what better way to tick both boxes, by entering a team into our Business Trophy and take home the silverware!”

There is an extra incentive for businesses competing in the UKFast We Love Manchester 10k Business Trophy and who raise the most money for the We Love Manchester Charity. The successful business will win a “money can't buy” prize of a unique behind-the-scenes tour of the iconic Manchester Town Hall and Afternoon Tea for five people with the Lord Mayor of Manchester himself.
