Over 250 pairs of runners headed to The Lincolnshire Wolds on Saturday (17 October) to put their racing friendships to the test at the Gruesome Twosome Half Marathon. The unique event, organised by Tape2Tape, required competitors to tackle 13.1 miles with their running buddy, through grassland, trails, tarmac roads and meadows.
Starting and finishing in the village of Swallow, competitors moved through an undulating multi-terrain route. The half marathon offered a challenging course for each pair of runners as they made their way through some of the county's finest scenic countryside.
The race saw Sheffield AC pair Joe Fowler and Alex Jordan Plant take first place in a time of 1:20:16, with Ben Evison (Skegness Coasters) and Gary Thomas (Wolds Vets) in second with 1:21:84, while Lincoln Wellington duo Sean Barkes and Marc Thorpe secured third in 1:23:18.
Feedback on the Gruesome Twosome Facebook page was overwhelmingly positive, with one runner, Rachel Yarwood Murray, commenting: “This was one from my bucket list and I loved every minute. Tough route but enjoyable. Great marshals, well organised and love the beanies. Thank you so much for a great race.”
