Sunday’s (24 July) signifies the tenth anniversary of the Great Yorkshire Run, an occasion that will be marked by a location move with Harrogate hosting the event. This is the first time the 10k has taken place outside Sheffield since its inception in 2007.
The course has been designed to utilise the most of the scenic spa town and will start and finish on Montpellier Hill in the Montpellier Quarter, home to exclusive shops, bars, restaurants and the iconic Betty's Café Tearoom.
Participants then head out on a short lap towards the Stray before returning down Montpellier Hill and setting off through the beautiful Valley Gardens. Runners then head for the highly acclaimed RHS Harlow Carr Gardens before returning to the Montpellier Quarter to cross the finish line.
A number of wll known faces will be in attendance, including Britain’s most famous WI members The Calendar Girls, who will reunite at the start line to send runners on their way. Angela Baker, Tricia Stewart, Ros Fawcett and Linda Logan of Rylstone Women's Institute in North Yorkshire, are among those who have raised over £3m for Bloodwise, the Great Yorkshire Run’s official chosen charity. The trio will be on hand to fire the starter’s gun on Sunday.

“The Great Yorkshire Run and the Calendar Girls are a fitting match as the ladies’ magnificent fundraising efforts will act as a huge inspiration to the thousands of runners that are taking part in the event this Sunday for either fun, fundraising or just to achieve a personal best!”
