Organisers of the Hull Marathon have announced that RB, the world’s leading Health and Hygiene company, will be the principal sponsor of this year’s race. The event, organised for Sunday 13 September, will showcase Hull in the lead up to its hosting of the UK City of Culture 2017.
The agreement will mean the event will be known as The RB Hull Marathon and the company, responsible for many well-known healthcare and household brands, playing an important role behind the organisation
Philip Haskins of Wolds Events, organiser of the marathon, expressed his satisfaction with the agreement: “We couldn’t be happier with RB coming on board as principal sponsor for our event. Not only do we share RB’s growing commitment to the personal healthcare agenda but the fact that the company has its earliest roots here in Hull makes this an ideal match.”
The deal will also see employees from the company taking part in the event, with many expected to run the marathon, take part in the four person relay or become a Marathon Maker, volunteering to help with the event on the day and showcasing some of the firm’s healthcare brands. Many will also be taking part in support of RB’s chosen charity, Save the Children.
Organisers are expecting up to 2000 runners to take part in September. The marathon course has been designed to takes in both east and west of the city, covering the East Riding and the Humber Bridge. Runners will start and finish in the city centre and take in some of the city’s best known landmarks including East Park, Victoria Square, the KC Stadium, the Humber Bridge, Hessle Road, Hull Marina and the Old Town.
