Hull Marathon Receives UK Athletics Backing

Hull MarathonOrganisers of the RB Hull Marathon have announced that UK Athletics has awarded the event its official road race license. The news comes shortly after the confirmation that RB, the world's leading Health and Hygiene company, will be the principal sponsor of this year's marathon. The event, which also includes a four person relay, is scheduled for Sunday 13 September and has already attracted over 600 entrants.

The marathon course has been designed to takes in both east and west of the city, covering the East Riding and the Humber Bridge. Runners will start and finish in the city centre and take in some of the city’s best known landmarks including East Park, Victoria Square, the KC Stadium, the Humber Bridge, Hessle Road, Hull Marina and the Old Town.

Philip Haskins from marathon organisers Wolds Events said that the award represented a guarantee of quality to runners in the event: “We’re pleased to see that the time and effort we’ve put into accurately measuring the course as well as working through the risk assessment for the event have paid dividends.

"Getting the UKA licence seven months before the marathon means that as organisers we can now concentrate on getting all the other aspects of delivery right, while runners can concentrate on their training knowing that they’ll be taking part in a properly run event.

“With so many people wanting to be a volunteer marathon maker, plus RB coming on board as a principal sponsor and now this award of the UK Athletics licence, things are starting to take shape and we’re really looking forward to putting on a great event for the city and whole area.”
