Organisers of Jantastic have revealed that more than 21,000 people have taken part in the challenge during the first four weeks of 2014. Impressively, this has accounted for more than 160,000 runs over the same period.
Similar to festive challenges such as Marcothon, Jantastic allows participants to track their own and other runners' progress, and participants can boost fellow runners' morale with messages of support.
Jantastic describe the challenge as being: "All about getting 2014 off to a great start: getting you running, keeping you running and transforming your running. Anyone can take part. It's free, it's fun, it's really simple and it'll keep you motivated to run when it's cold and wet outside.”
One group who have taken to the challenge is Warwick’s Hampton Magna Harriers. The group, who first heard about Jantastic on the weekly Marathon Talk podcast, are currently sitting in the top 100 out of 1,700 teams having completed a total of 114 runs. To add to the excitement, three of the group’s runners are making their marathon debuts this year and have all said that Jantastic has helped them to stay motivated for regular training runs.
