Keswick Mountain Festival has announced details of the routes for all three of its trail runs on Saturday 17 May. The festival includes a 10k, half marathon and marathon, all of which will allow runners the opportunity to experience some of the Lake District’s stunning landscape.
The 2014 Keswick Mountain Festival (KMF) will be held from 15 to 18 May and is once again being sponsored by outdoor brand Dare 2b. The Keswick Mountain Festival Trail Runs will be held on Saturday 17 May, with the marathon starting at 9.00am, the half marathon at 11.00am and the 10k at 1.00pm.
All three events will begin from Low Brandelhow on the shore of Derwentwater. Runners will be transported to the start by boat from the Keswick Mountain Festival Village on Crow Park (which will be open from 16-18 May), so they will be able to enjoy a short cruise before setting off along the trails.
The routes for the trail runs have been created by trail race planner Charles Sproson of Mountain Run. Sproson has previous experience in devising successful courses for Ourea Events like the Marmot Dark Mountains 2013, Great Lakeland 3Day Challenge for 2012 and 2013. He said: "These courses have been specifically designed to give runners some of the best trail running in the Borrowdale, Buttermere and Newlands valleys.
“All of the courses are planned to allow potential entrants to progress through each course year on year. Runners will witness some of the most scenic countryside that the English Lake District has to offer and they are guaranteed to finish with a smile on their faces and some amazing memories to look back on."
