Kilometres Equals Bagels In Yorkshire

Last year's event in Buenos Aires Next month will see South Yorkshire become the first UK location to host the New York Bakery Co. Race. The event is aiming to break the world record for the most races taking place in one day, with 37 cities hosting a run simultaneously on Sunday 25 September.

Part of the Global Race Series, the UK edition will be located in the beautiful Rother Valley Country Park in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, just a few miles from the New York Bakery Company – known to be the biggest bagel bakery in the world.

For every one km run the New York Bakery Company will donate one bagel to local food banks. This means that if everyone collectively runs 10,000km the New York Bakery Company will donate 10,000 bagels.

Tim Barkey, marketing director at New York Bakery Co., says: “We’re excited to be bringing a touch of New York to Yorkshire with the New York Bakery Co. Race. With its beautiful setting, the Rother Valley Country Park is the perfect choice – and it’s just a few miles down the road from our factory in Mexborough.

“With this event, we are looking to promote wellbeing by inspiring thousands of people to take part in a global experience and challenge themselves to get moving as part of a healthy lifestyle. With such a wide choice of races available, we’re inviting everyone – from beginners to seasoned runners – to join local residents and staff in taking part. We’re all looking forward to a fun-filled, healthy day.”

Entrants may choose from a 10k, 5k or 3k distance, catering to competitive runners, families, kids, parents with strollers and those new to running.
