Last blast of racing before Christmas?!

If so, the Great Langdale Christmas Pudding 10km races take place on the 12th and 13th December in Cumbria. Both races start at 11am and start and finish at Sticklebarn Tavern / New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel (approx 6 miles from Ambleside). It is a fast, undulating course along one of the most beautiful valleys in England.

A large christmas pudding and mince pie is handed out to all finishers, along with prizes in 5 year Vets Categories plus 1st 5 Males and 1st 5 Ladies. Entries fees are £10 for attached runners or £12 for unattached runners.

There is also a 3km Fun Run which takes place at 1.15am on both days, which incorporates a flat 3km loop. Entry is £3 and entries are taking on the morning of the race. This entry includes a finisher's medal and free ice-cream for the kids! Free parking is available for those who arrive early. For those of you in top form this winter, the course records are currently, Ewan Malloch of Team Bath A.C. in a time of 30.28 mins set in 2007 and Susan Partridge of Leeds City A.C. in a time of 33.51 mins also set in 2007.

2008 saw Allen Clement run away winner in a time of 32.26 minutes followed by Alex Tate in a time of 34.42 minutes. The womens race was a closer affair with Karen Heaviside of Eden Runners coming home in front in a time of 41.03 minutes followed by Gill Mead in 41.17 minutes.
