Entries for the penultimate event in the autumn stage of the Lakeland Trails series close today - Thursday 19 September. The Coniston races, which includes a 10k Trail Run, a 15k Trail Race and a 15k Trail challenge, all take place on Saturday 5 October.
Each event follows circuits along well-marked and marshalled footpaths and bridleways, taking in panoramic views of Lake Coniston and the surrounding peaks of the Old Man, Swirl How, Wetherlam and Dow Crags.
Underfoot conditions are said to be good, although one section of the 15k route (around 4k in) is said to be tricky. The course description states that 'only agile mountain goats' will be able to negotiate it.
As with the Lakeland events, there will be live music, race commentary, plus food and drink all available at the start and finish lines. Registration for each of the three events is priced at £28. For more information, visit the Lakeland Trails website.
