The MediaCityUK Santa Run will be aiming to replicate the success of btr Liverpool's Santa Dash with hundreds of runners expected to take part at this weekend's fun run. Entries for the 5k run, which is set to go ahead this Sunday (8 December - 10.15am start), are still open, with the event seen as the ideal way to get into shape as the festive season approaches.
Starting outside the new BBC offices at Salford Quays, the course moves into the Lowry Plaza at The Lowry Outlet Mall, passing through the Christmas Victorian Markets, past the Imperial War Museum and over the new bridge before finishing in MediaCityUK square. The distance will be approximately 5k.
The event is also a great opportunity to raise money for charity in the lead up to Christmas. The MediaCityUK Santa Run is priced at just £15 for adults and £10 for children, which includes the hire of a santa suit. If you are using your own suit, the entry fee is reduced to £10 and £6 respectively.
The race isn't timed and all finishers will receive a medal, while the kids will also get a selection box each. For more information and to register, visit the event website. Organisers have announced that entries will be taken on the day of the race at Race HQ, The Studio at Media City Square.
