Organisers of the Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon have released a limited number of guaranteed places for the event. Due to take place on 20 October, the race received overwhelming interest when first launched, with the initial 5,500 entries snapped up within a number of days.
The Jane Tomlinson Appeal, the team behind the Run for All Events, has announced that runners who are willing to fundraise for the charity will be allocated a place. Successful applications will be required to raise a minimum of £300, with places issued on a first-come-first served basis.
Siobhan Curtis, Appeal Legacy Manager, said: "We are very lucky to have been able to secure places in the event and with over 500 people already signed up to take part on behalf of the Appeal it will be great to see an army of blue [the charity's colour] on the start line come race day. The support we receive from the people of Yorkshire is incredible and we hope that with events like this we can continue to fundraise to support organisations throughout the region."
Interested runners have until the end of today - Friday 22 March to apply. More information is available on the event website.
