Leading The London Marathon

David Hellard

Typically it is an honour bestowed on only the world's greatest marathon runners, but one member of the masses made a unique attempt to lead last month's Virgin London Marathon all in the name of charity.

Londoner David Hellard is in the midst of attempting a six event challenge to raise funds for Street Child, an organisation that works to help some of Africa's most impoverished and vulnerable young people.

The second of his challenges was to lead the 2013 London Marathon at the 400m mark, despite not being able to start level with Mo Farah and the rest of the elite runners. Click here to see if he succeeds and here to sponsor him.
