TV personality and patron of the Jane Tomlinson Appeal, Nell McAndrew, has announced her backing for and participation in the upcoming Leeds 10K. Leeds-born Nell competed in the very first race in 2007 and with the event preparing to celebrate its 10th milestone on Sunday 10 July, has encouraged others to do the same.
Nell, 42, is an established marathon runner with a PB of 2:54 and has a 10k victory under her belt, taking top billing in last year’s Running4Women Windsor 10K. The Leeds event will represent a memorable day to celebrate the lasting legacy of the late inspirational Jane Tomlinson, who passed away in 2007 after raising almost £2m for charity.
Looking ahead to the 10k and its poignant place in the Run for All series, Nell commented: “I am really looking forward to taking part in the 10th anniversary run of the Leeds 10K. Jane was a truly inspirational character and it's wonderful that the 10K she established has proved so enduring and continues to raise huge amounts of money for causes that were close to her heart.
Nell added: “I have always enjoyed running in my home city and I know the support and atmosphere will be tremendous. I feel extremely proud to be able to continue to help support in some small way.”
To mark the event, the Jane Tomlinson Appeal is offering discounted places at just £10. More information on this is available here.
