Preparations for the 2018 OPAP Limassol Marathon are well underway. The marathon is Cyprus’ largest sporting event, with six races spread out over the weekend alongside a full programme of entertainment, activities and social events.
Taking place 17-18 March, 2018, Limassol is the place to come for a complete race experience – and a perfect excuse to combine a run in the sun with a fantastic weekend away.
The marathon course provides runners with an amazing 100% coastal and 100% flat course, which is optimal for newly introduced members of the marathon running community to have a first great experience, and for older members to challenge their PB time.
It was recently confirmed that Alzheimer’s Society will join Cancer Research UK in supporting the 12th edition of the race in beautiful Cyprus. Athletes of all nationalities are attracted to the Mediterranean climate, friendly welcome and a course, which covers long stretches of spectacular coastal road.
OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO race director Andreas Spyrou commented: “It is a pleasure to welcome Alzheimer’s Society as a charity partner for the 2018 OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO. The work they do is vital in the fight against dementia and we hope that many runners will support the charity by obtaining a fundraising pack and raising valuable funds for Alzheimer’s Society next March.
Starting at the palm-tree lined seafront at Molos, the marathon race takes runners to the new port, the old harbour and the ancient ruins of the Royal City of Amathus, with magnificent views along the way. For many, it is an opportunity to enjoy a stunning destination and a world-class race.
Those registering for the 2018 Limassol Marathon can get 40% off the entry-fee by signing up before 31 October. To register visit the Limassol Marathon website.
