In the wake of the inevitable hangover from festive office parties and the indulgences of Christmas and New Year, now might be the best time to commit to a fixed and testing training schedule for 2014. In preparation for the ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon in April, Up and Running has organised four training runs from their Deansgate store.
The first two are set for 2 and 16 February, both at 11:30am and cover 10 and 15 miles respectively. On 9 March, the penultimate run is the most challenging at 18 miles, while the final one - falling within the tapering period - is set at 8 miles.
Scheduled for Sunday 6 April, the Greater Manchester Marathon is recognised as the flattest and fastest marathons across Europe with just 54m of elevation over the course.
Using the same route as 2013, the event starts on the A56 White City Roundabout in Old Trafford, just a short walk from Manchester United Football Club, and finishes outside the stadium where the race village and charity zone are also located.
All of the training runs begin at 11:30am at the Deansgate store in Manchester. To register check out details at the store website.
