Mara Yamauchi and Steve Vernon will head to Lancashire early next year to share their running tales and advice at an England Athletics marathon workshop. The pair, who have also been working recently as coaches, will be attending a course at Edge Hill University in Ormskirk near Liverpool on 25 January.
Yamauchi, who currently holds the second fastest time by a British woman behind Paula Radcliffe, retired from competitive racing in January last year. The 41-year-old has been writing a blog for Run England over the last six months, tracing her progress from 10k club runner to international athlete.
Stockport Harrier Vernon, top finisher at this February’s English National Championships, will share a case study on Andy Davies, the Welsh Commonwealth Games Marathon runner.
Both athletes will also hold a question and answer session, while strength and conditioning coach Tim Egerton will deliver a practical workshop looking at physical preparation for performance at all levels.
The course is free to attend for those who are part of England Athletics’ LCDP programme: places will be booked on a first come, first served basis. More information is available here.
