Runners and spectators at this Sunday’s (12 July) We Love Manchester 10K will be given the opportunity to sample some award-winning food, drink and crafts, following an exciting new partnership with The Makers Market. Known for running popular markets throughout the north west, the news will come as a further boost for a race that has established itself as one of the key events in the regional calendar.
Affectionately known as the ‘People’s Race', the 10k is set to build on last year’s turnout when almost 3000 runners took part. The 10K boasts a fitting start and finish at the Regional Athletics Track, Sportcity, next to the Etihad Stadium, home to Manchester City FC. Moving out of Sportcity, the course loops at 6.5k comes back into the campus to let runners enjoy a cracking finale on the track.
Victoria Jackson, Event Manager of the Makers Market commented on the partnership: “We’re delighted to be working alongside Sports Tours International to bring a Makers Market to the Decathlon We Love Manchester 10K.”
“The stalls on show have been hand selected to tantalise and delight thousands of runners and their families, with a mixture of healthy and indulgent foodie treats, plus art, design and craft. Being a family friendly event, young visitors will be catered for too, with face painting and activities to keep them entertained.”
Following the race, runners can restore energy levels in the Street Food area, which will showcase a variety of tasty street food prepared by Manchester based chefs, including wood fired pizza, pulled pork and Caribbean chicken, finished off with artisan ice creams and juices. The stalls will be set up from 8am-1pm.
Entries are still available for the event here.
