Participants are being sought for a study that investigates the effects of vertical impact loads in older adults. The study, aimed specifically at those aged 65 and above, is being carried out by Jessica Coulson, a senior research assistant at Manchester Metropolitan. Jessica, 24, is also an established runner having won the European cross country championships in December 2012 and first place at the recent Sale Sizzler 5K series.
Participants should, ideally, be master athletes and have met with BMAF merit standards in sprint / middle / long distance running in the past 12 months (more information is available here).
The study will involve completing a questionnaire and wearing a small activity monitor for seven days, followed up with bone scans and physical capability tasks. The information collated will be presented at conferences and published in medical research journals; no one in the study will be identifiable in any report or publication.
For those interested in taking part, you can contact Jessica through her email address or on 0161 247 5470.
