McFly Star Reveals Heart Condition

Harry Judd

McFly drummer Harry Judd has revealed on Twitter that he has a minor heart condition as a result of his intense training for Virgin London marathon. The former Strictly Come Dancing winner has developed an ectopic heartbeat but will still be competing in the race on 21 April.

Judd and four friends are raising money for the Teenage Cancer Trust and The Eyes Alight appeal, in aid of The Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust (BIRT). They will also take part in 13-mile adventure race Tough Mudder in Northamptonshire two weeks later and have so far raised almost £12,500 of their £20,000 target.

The 27-year-old said: "So I've acquired an ectopic heart beat through excessive exercise. It's known as a Wandering Pacemaker commonly seen in athletes.

"It proves I've been pushing as hard as possible for the marathon and if you've been thinking of sponsoring me then surely that will persuade you? It's nothing to worry about but just means I have to chill out a bit."

Ectopic heartbeats are small changes in your heartbeat that lead to extra or skipped heartbeats. They are most often harmless and usually don't require treatment.
