Race organisers BTR Liverpool are looking to pay tribute to the Merseyside’s running fraternity with their very first community awards evening. The Running Community Awards is hosted by BTR Liverpool on Friday 24 October, and nominations for the event are now being sought.
The awards look to acknowledge and reward people who work in or take part in the sport of running anywhere in Merseyside. The categories are designed to have the widest possible appeal and are open to people of all ages and abilities.
An award will be given in each of the seven categories: overcoming adversity; running community service; most inspirational individual; volunteer team of the year; running personality of the year; lifetime achievement; and running image of the year.
The first stage invites runners to nominate their choice in the selected categories. A shortlist will then be announced for the finalists, and the public asked to cast their vote for the nominees who they want to see named as winners. Nominations are open until 13 July. The Awards Committee will review the nominations and decide on a candidate list for voting.
To nominate, please write a brief overview as to why you think your candidate is suitable for the award. Send this, together with your contact details (name, address, telephone number) to firstname.lastname@example.org. Alternatively, drop it into the BTR office or post to BTR Liverpool, 23 Hatton Garden, Liverpool, L3 2FE.
The shortlisted candidates will be announced on 13 August, when voting will open for one month (until 12 September). Voting details will be confirmed with the shortlist announcement.
