Farah Confirms Track Return

Mo Farah Mo Farah has confirmed he will make his competitive return at Sunday’s Portland Track Festival. The race is Farah’s first since deciding against taking part in the London 10,000, with the double Olympic champion withdrawing from the race due to April’s marathon exertions.

The Portland event will also mark Farah’s first return to the track since securing gold at the 5,000 and 10,000m World Championships in August last year. The announcement came through the athlete’s Oregon Project training group twitter account: “Mo Farah will be back on the track at the @PortlandTrack Festival June 15th in Portland Oregon.”

Farah’s participation suggests he is in strong race condition following the London Marathon where he finished in 8th position. Despite narrowly missing out on the British record over the distance, concerns were raised over Farah’s transition to the longer distance.

Aside from the upcoming race in Portland, Farah also intends to compete in the Commonwealth Games and the Glasgow Grand Prix in July.
