Most Monumental Of Marathons?

Marathon du Mont Saint-Michel

Dark evenings are a great time to plan running adventures and experienced race promoters and travel experts Human Race have released details of an exciting and accessible event in France with something for all tastes and ability levels – the 20th anniversary Run at Mont Saint-Michel running weekend on 26-27 May, 2018.

The Marathon de la Baie du Mont Saint-Michel is a gathering of runners in the heart of a legendary location in France, full of history and culture. The event brings together over 5000 runners each year who come from all over France and from every corner of the world. Earlier this year competitors from more than 60 nations converged on this corner of Normandy.

The Marathon de la Baie du Mont Saint-Michel, on Sunday 27 May, is known as the most 'Monumental of Marathons'. It is the jewel in the crown of the four race programme, with its spectacular finish in the shadow of the UNESCO World Heritage Site medieval monastery that gives the race its title.

Sunday's marathon can be split into a two-person relay known as the Duo Marathon. This is an ideal way to combine a sporting challenge with a fun event with a friend or partner. The changeover occurs at 20.5km at Cherrieux and both runners will receive a medal, T-shirt and refreshments.

The previous day there is a choice between the 58km, multi-terrain Ultra Trail de l'Archange with a finish climb of the steps of Mont Saint-Michel. Alternatively, the Semi d'Avranches Half Marathon might appeal as a stepping stone to the full marathon in the future.

Early bird entry fees range from 30 euros for the Semi d'Avranches Half Marathon to 69 euros for the Ultra Trail de l'Archange. Full details are available at the Marathon de la Baie du Mont Saint-Michel website.
