Run For All, organisers of the Pennine Lancashire 10K, have announced that the race will now fficially be known as the Asda Foundation Burnley 10K. Since its re-launch in 2012, there had been provisional plans to host the event at different locations across Lancashire but such has been Burnley’s support for the 10k, the decision has been made to keep the race within the town.
This year’s event saw almost 1400 runners tackle a course that incorporates three of Burnley’s most attractive parks – Rowley, Towneley and Thompson. The route took the field from the start line outside the Mechanics Theatre, passing close to Turf Moor Stadium before arriving back in Manchester Road for a grandstand finish
On retaining its location in Burnley, Tristan Batley-Kyle, course director, said: “Although we had planned to move the event around Lancashire, we feel it has truly found its natural home in Burnley. The support shown for the run by people in the town, businesses and the Council has been tremendous. Burnley and its parks provide an excellent route for the entrants and we are very much looking forward to next year’s race.”
The 2016 event has been scheduled for Sunday 5 June. More information on which is available here.
