With the 2013 training calendar coming to a close, it's both comforting and exciting to look at races on the horizon in the New Year. Yorkshire runners can look forward to the prospect of a discounted package for three popular events, the Saltaire Shaker-Ice Age, Trollers Trot and the Chevin Chiller Werewolf Run.
Starting at Roberts Park in Saltaire on Sunday 16 February, the winter version of the Saltaire Shaker takes runners alongside the River Wharfe and then by the Leeds Liverpool Canal through Field and Buck Wood. With a 15k course, the race is seen as an ideal way to kick-start your fitness in 2014.
Second up is the Trollers Trot on 1 March. Now in its 22nd year, the race is offering both a 25 and 12 mile route through the picturesque setting of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. With a challenging course, 3064ft of ascent, the free meal at the finish will definitely be deserved.
The final of the three is the Chevin Chiller Werewolf Run, organised on the evening of Sunday 16 March. The 7k course awaits the brave souls who can endure the horrors of the Chevin at night.
Each of the three races has an early bird offer. If you sign up for two events you receive a £1.50 discount, or £3.00 if you sign up for all. Prospective entrants should tick the relevant boxes on the 'Have you also entered?' section to ensure they received their discount.
