The Ribble Valley 10km Road Race on December 27, 2009 is also the Northern 10km Road Race Championships and is sure to attract a big field of runners, from the serious pro's to the more relaxed fun runners. With 1000 runners entering in 2008, similar numbers are expected this year.
The 11am start takes place at Roefield Leisure Centre, Edisford Bridge, Clitheroe. The traffic free course is sure to provide a fast course for those looking to get a last minute 2009 10km PB or for those just looking to have a leisurely Sunday run around the course, the large numbers of runners expected is sure to provide a fantastic atmosphere. Water will be provided at the start and finish aswell as on-route, with toilet and changing facilities available at the start / finishing area. A memento race t-shirt will be provided to all finishers at the finish.
Car parking is available up until 10.45am and 'on the day' race entries will be available until 10.30am, but it is recommended to complete a race entry form prior to turning up at the start to make these entries quicker. The course map along with further race details can be found online.
The 2008 race provided a spectacular race with Ben Lindsay and Ben Fish sprinting down the finish straight in the men's race with Lindsay just coming out on top but both achieving sub 30 minute times. Helen Clitheroe won the women's race (32.32 minutes) ahead of Ruth Senior and Katie Ingram. With 10 runners clocking times under 31 minutes this is definitely a fast course!
