Those considering setting a personal best in New York this year are spoiled for choice with Sports Tours International offering packages for New York Marathon, NYC Half Marathon and Brookyln Half Marathon. The sports travel specialists say: “If a half marathon or marathon is your distance of choice, we have just the event for you in the bustling and exciting New York!”
New York Half Marathon on 15 March starts in Central Park's West Drive near 64th Street, before running through the heart of New York, then turning right towards the Hudson River and following the water side down the foot of Manhattan. As the race takes place on St Patrick's Day weekend, many participants are planning to wear something Irish-related.
Moving onto the ‘borough with attitude’, Brooklyn Half Marathon offers another slice of the Big Apple on 16 May. Starting at the Brooklyn Museum, the race takes runners past the Botanic Gardens and the Grand Army Plaza, before entering Prospect Park then finishing with a dash along the iconic boardwalk of Coney Island.
Then we have the big daddy – New York Marathon on 1 November. The race covers all five boroughs of the city, beginning on Staten Island and finishing in Central Park, Manhattan.
