2500 places have been made available for the fourth edition of the ASICS Oulton Park Half Marathon and 10K, with organisers confirming the date for the 2017 event. Due to take place on Sunday 26 February, demand is expected to be high for both distances, which are held entirely on the famous Oulton Park motor racing circuit.
As with their sister event the Greater Manchester Marathon, the Oulton Park Half and 10K have been designed with speed in mind. The course offers a smooth, traffic-free surface and a number of excellent vantage points for friends to watch and cheer on competitors.
The track, built into the contours of the Cheshire countryside, is regarded as one of England’s most picturesque motor racing circuits. Runners in the half marathon will cover six laps with 10K competitors tackling three.
Race director Simon Hill said: “Our event is perfectly timed as a training race for anyone running a spring marathon and it is also a brilliant start to the running season. We are always overwhelmed by the incredible atmosphere that the Oulton Park race track provides for both runners and spectators, making it a truly unique event for all involved.”
In addition to offering participants the opportunity for setting an early 2017 PB in a unique setting, registration for the event is priced at just £24 for the 10K (£22 affiliated) and £29.50 for the half (£27.50). Registration details at the event website.
