PBs Await At Parliament Hill

Highgate Harriers' Night of the PBsA host of elite runners have once again committed to next month’s Highgate Harriers Night of the 10,000m PBs. The race, scheduled for 16 May at Parliament HIll, has become renowned as the ideal location to for securing fast times, with many runners using it as a qualifying race. 

As is stands, organisers have received a record number of entries and a reserve lit that has now reached double-figures. Recent additions to the women’s field include English National Cross Country champion Lily Partridge, GB internationals Aly Dixon, Sonia Samuels and Rhona Auckland

In the men’s field, GB international, Adam Hickey, and last year’s third-place finisher, Jonny Mellor are shaping up as favourites. Race organiser, Ben Pochee, has been delighted with the response and feels the event’s unique atmosphere, where competitors can chose their favourite tracks to run to during the race, will once again be conducive to quick times

Ben commented: “’I’ve been a Highgate Harrier since the mid-1980s – inspired by 1984 LA Olympics and jetpack man and have never been as amped as I am by the renewed racing momentum & grassroots support our club 10,000m event is enjoying.”

“The fact we’re now attracting exciting young GB racing talent like Jonathan Davies & Rhona Auckland into the world of 25 lap racing truly makes me feel the opportunity for our sport are boundless, and if I feel so optimistic, hopefully so do our PB-hunting athletes.”
