The John Lewis Christmas advert has been released and the running world now has its sights on the festive season. One event on the festive calendar is the Festive Flash Five, a testing five mile, multi-terrain race set in Pennington Flash Country Park.
Scheduled for Sunday 27 November, the event is described as the 'perfect way to start the Festive season', with a scenic five mile run that covers trails and canal paths. Organisers are also promising goody bags with Christmas treats and mince pies available at the end.
The upcoming race will represent the second ever staging of the Festive Flash Five and as it stands entry levels are higher than they were in 2016, owing, according to organiser Bill Bradley, to the event’s broad appeal: ‘’Our entries so far have come from near and far. We also have more female entries than males at this point with approximately 60% of the total.’’
Bill continued: ‘’The route is the same as last year and we are hoping to have the same level of water and mud that we had then. One big change is the move to chip timing, which we brought in after feedback from last year’s participants.’’
Entries for the Festive Flash Five are set to close on 20 November. More information is available at the event website.
