This Sunday (13 December) runners in West Yorkshire will have the envious task of tackling a 6k with designated feed stations that contain pies. It’s no surprise then that the Pieathlon, which has the tagline of ‘The Hungriest Race in Yorkshire’, will once again play host to a sell-out field with over 300 runners taking part.
The race starts and finishes at Longwood Edge Road (Huddersfield), with a series of climbs over the 6k: the pies are stationed every 2k. The Great Yorkshire Pieathlon comes from organisers Team OA, who are known for their innovative events in and around Yorkshire and have the simple philosophy of producing ‘exciting, memorable events that are accessible to all’.
Team OA’s portfolio includes Man v Barge, a challenge that pits runners against a canal barge travelling from Marsden to Diggle; the Chocathlon, a 9km run which has feed stations stocked with chocolates; plus their very own Wineathlon, which is due to take place in September.
As if the three stations dotted across the course weren’t enough, participants can also enjoy pies and hot drinks at the finish. More information on the Team OA events is available here.
