This Sunday (14 December) will see the staging of one of the country’s most innovative events, the Great Yorkshire Pieathlon. The unique race invites participants to tackle a 6k trail run with pie stations - fruit, meat and vegetable are all available - located throughout the course.
The race starts and finishes at Longwood Edge Road (Hudderwsfield), with a series of climbs over the 6k: the pies are stationed every 2k, with more at the finish line. The Great Yorkshire Pieathlon comes from organisers Team OA, who are known for their innovative events in and around Yorkshire.
Team OA’s portfolio includes Man v Barge, a challenge that pits runners against a canal barge travelling from Marsden to Diggle; the Chocathlon, a 9km run which has feed stations stocked with chocolates; plus their very own Wineathlon, which is due to take place in September.
Prizes will be on offer for the top three finishers in the male and female fields, the best team name and fancy dress. More information on the other Team OA events is available here.
