Outlaws Pave Way For New Trail

Penshaw MonumentTrail Outlaws have announced an exciting first event to mark the beginning of their Urban Trails Series. The Pieces of 8 Trail Race @ Penshaw is scheduled for Sunday 31 August and aims to make the most of the village’s scenic and undulating trails with a distance of just over 13.1 miles.

The race forms part of the Trail Outlaws series which aims to encourage people to take to the trails and tracks in enjoyable and attractive settings.  Starting at the bottom of the iconic Penshaw Hill, runners will work their way around the hill to the top of the monument before heading back down in the fantastic trails of St James Steel Park.

The area is best known for the Penshaw Monument, which is a half-scale replica of the Temple of Hephaestus in Athens. The prominent landmark was built in in 1844 atop Penshaw Hill. Entry is priced at just £20 and all competitors will receive a Trail Outlaws technical t-shirt, medal and goody bag. The race is expected to sell-out so early registration is encouraged.

Trail Outlaws are planning a number of new events in and around the north east for 2015. More information on these is available here.
