Amidst the controversy caused by Liverpool City Council’s decision to impose a significant road closure charge on the upcoming Santa Dash, BTR Liverpool announced that entries for the Port Sunlight 10K and 5K are now open. The event, launched in 2012, is organised for Sunday 1 March, 2015.
Set against the stunning Port Sunlight village, the event is within easy reach of runners across Merseyside and enjoyed immediate success when launched in 2012. Since then, the race’s stock has risen consistently, culminating in 1800 runners taking part in the 10K earlier this year and a further 300 in the 5K.
This year’s race saw Salford Harriers’ Tarus Elly take top position in the 10k, finishing in a speedy 31:25, with Liverpool Harriers’ James Riley a close second (31:36). Sophie Hunt secured first place in the women’s competition in 38:28, followed by Jennifer Clague (38:50).
The decision to move the 2015 event to March, rather than May, means organisers are anticipating an even higher turnout and are encouraging interested participants to register quickly. Online entry is priced at £24 for the 10K, £19 for 5K.
