In what has been one of the most enquired about and sought after locations for a parkrun event, this Saturday (May 12) will see hundreds of runners prepare for a regular 5k run at Avenham Park, Preston. Starting at the East Lancs Viaduct at the bottom of the park, the run will consist of 3 anti-clockwise laps and finishes at the Pavilion. The route takes in both Avenham and Miller Parks, running alongside the River Ribble.
Will Buckley, who has been part of the organising committee for the Preston parkrun, told northernrunningguide.com: "Everyone is incredibly excited about the upcoming parkrun and Avenham Park is one of the most scenic routes you could wish for."
Will continued: "There has been a lot of anticipation surrounding the event and we have been lucky to have Michael Ash-McMahon (Event Director) as the driving force behind it. We hope this can encourage more people to get into running, and create a real community feel to it. The Preston parkrun is aimed at everyone and we want to stress all are welcome, regardless of level."
The Preston parkrun takes place this Saturday at 9am. For more information and to register, visit their official website.
