RAMathon Opens Doors

RAMathon 2014Entries for the 2015 staging of RAMathon, Derby’s leading half marathon event, have opened and organisers have announced a partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support in Derbyshire. The partnership means the charity is now supported by the half marathon and Derby County FC, who are aiming to raise £25,000 over the course of the year.

The race made a much-anticipated return this year and 4000 places have been made available for 2015 (Sunday, 7 June).  Starting and finishing at the iPro Stadium, runners will be able to enjoy a newly designed 13.1 mile course, which will still include the villages of Shardlow, Ambaston, Elvaston and the Castle Grounds.

On the partnership with Macmillan, Richard Kay, race director commented: “As local runners who are born and bred in Derby, one of our big aims as organisers of the Ramathon is to support the local area.  When it came to choosing the official race charity for the 2015 Derby Half Marathon event, Macmillan Cancer Support seemed to fit the profile well and DCFC Team Mac runners can raise funds to support local services."

Those running for the charity at the RAMathon will receive a Macmillan t-shirt to wear on race day and there will be prizes for team members kindly donated by Derby County FC.  In addition to Derby Half Marathon, there is also a Mini Ramathon fun run for children and families.
