Preparations for June’s Ramathon are in full swing with organisers inviting runners to attend a free race day clinic next Thursday (16 April). The half marathon made a much anticipated and successful return in 2014 and is expected to attract up to 4000 runners this year.
Central Health, the event’s headline sponsors, will host the clinic at their head office in Spondon and it is free for all entrants. Runners will get the chance to meet the region's leading physiotherapists, podiatrists & sports masseurs to chat about race preparation, discuss any niggling aches and pains and pick up tips and advice on staying injury free and getting in the best possible shape for race day on 7 June.
The clinic will also provide gait analysis demonstrations, free biomechanical assessments, back and pelvis evaluations, sports massage taster sessions, plus free joint and muscle pain management plans. The event is from 5:30 until 8pm and runners can pop in at any point.
Organisers have also scheduled a series of breakfast runs in preparation for the event. The next is set for Sunday 26 April and will cover 11 miles starting from Funktion Fitness at the iPro stadium and costs just £1.
Looking ahead to the race, competitors will start and finish at the iPro Stadium, and will be able to enjoy a newly designed 13.1 mile course, which includes the villages of Shardlow, Ambaston, Elvaston and the Castle Grounds.
Entry for the half marathon is priced at just £24 (£22 for affiliated runners). Registration is available here.
