Chesterfield Marathon Opens Doors

Chesterfield and Derbyshire MarathonOrganisers of the Chesterfield and Derbyshire Marathon have confirmed that registrations for the event, scheduled for Sunday 20 September, are now open. After the success of the inaugural event last year, which saw over 1400 runners take part, the announcement is likely to be met with a high level of interest.

This year, both the full and half marathon - as well as the fun run - will start and finish at Queen’s Park in Chesterfield, along with some other route changes (following feedback from last year’s inaugural marathon) to improve traffic control and access. The event will once again be in support of children’s charity Kids ‘n’ Cancer, along with other local charities and good causes.

Mike Hyman, co-founder of Kids ‘n’ Cancer, said: “We are delighted that the Chesterfield and Derbyshire Marathon will be back in 2015. We are looking forward to building on the huge success of the 2014 event and making this year’s race even bigger and better.”
After taking on board comments from last year’s participants, Mike said prospective runners can look forward to an exciting route in 2015: “We have made the registration process much easier this year and we are currently looking at the route based on the feedback from runners who took part this year, so we will be revealing all very soon.”

Early bird prices for entry are available until midnight on 31 May 2015. These are priced at £35 for the full marathon, £30 for the half marathon, £80 for the team relay and £5 for the fun run. As last year, any individuals raising £250 or teams raising £500 for Kids ‘n’ Cancer can enter for free.
