Registration for what will be the third staging of the Williams BMW Rochdale Half Marathon and 10K is now open, with those entering prior to 31 March in line for an early-bird discount. The event, scheduled for Sunday 8 October, offers the ideal blend of city and countryside, with runners departing from Rochdale Town Hall and moving through some of the north west’s most picturesque countryside scenes.
Since 2015 over 2,200 people have taken part in the event, which sets out by the new Gracie Fields statue and the recently uncovered River Roch bridge on traffic-free courses. The event, organised by Rochdale Harriers, Middleton Harriers and Rochdale Triathlon Club in partnership with Rochdale Borough Council, has become a key fundraiser in the region, with Springhill Hospice this year’s official charity.
Looking ahead to October’s race, early bird entry has been set at just £26.40 for the half (£24.40 for club runners) and £17.60 for the 10k (£15.60). Councillor Janet Emsley, from Rochdale Borough Council commented on the offer: “This is a fabulous event and I’m pleased to see it return. Our early bird prices will be held until 31 March and everyone is welcome to sign up, from new runners to those looking to beat their personal best.
On what runners can expect for October, she added: “We still have room to grow and plan to make further improvements for 2017, so our hope is that this early bird discount will encourage people to secure their places quickly for what is already a great value event.”
