Rochdale ready for Super Sunday of racing

Start of Rochdale event

Rochdale is preparing to host over 1200 runners for a trio of events this weekend, with a half marathon, 10k and fun run all set to go ahead this Sunday (October). While online entry has now closed, if you missed the deadline you can still enter in person at Number One Riverside in Rochdale town centre on Saturday 5 October (10.30am – 3pm) or on the morning of the event from 8am until 9.30am if there are any places remaining.

Since its launch in 2015, the Rochdale Half & 10K has attracted over 4,500 participants, with a big draw being a prime start and finish point by the Grade One listed Rochdale Town Hall. The routes have also been designed to incorporate some of the North West’s most picturesque countryside including around Hollingworth Lake.

Looking ahead to Sunday’s event, it has been confirmed the race announcer will once again be festival, Revolution 96.2, club and Rochdale AFC DJ Dave Sweetmore. Dave will be warming up the runners and spectators around the town hall with music as well as providing regular race updates throughout the morning.

The Rock School Band will be performing in Broadfield Park bandstand from 10am - 1.30pm as the runners complete the last stretch of their race.

John Connor, head of business at Williams Rochdale BMW, said: “We’ve had a great response so far and we’re really looking forward to the event which has something for all the family. Once again, we wish all the best to everyone taking part in and supporting this prestigious, national event, raising much-needed funds for very deserving charitable causes.”
