Race organisers Cannonball Events have confirmed that they will be bringing three new races to Rother Valley later this year. Scheduled over the weekend of 17–18 November, the Rother Valley Running Festival will incorporate marathon, 10k and half marathon distances, with the country park providing the perfect backdrop to all three.
News of the event’s launch arrived with much excitement and it is clear that the festival marks a significant step for Cannonball Events. The organisers already have the popular Ron Hill Accrington 10K and Huddersfield 5K Park Series, and, with the addition of the festival, they will further their strengthen their race portfolio.
Set just outside of Sheffield and Rotherham, the weekend will kick-off with the marathon at 10am on Saturday (17 November) before moving on to the 10k race at 1pm. The festival will conclude the following day with the Rother Valley Half Marathon at 9:30am (Sunday). All three races are currently offering discounted early bird entry.
Full routes are available via the event website but it is apparent that the courses have been designed with speed in mind and runners could earmark this is a potential PB event. A total prize fund of £2.000 has been made available for those in the medal mix.
