Kandoo Attitude For Sheffield Trail Run

Round Sheffield RunThis summer will see Kandoo events host one of the most innovative races on the northern circuit, the Round Sheffield Run. The multi-stage running event, split over 11 stages with breaks to regroup and refresh, takes competitors around some of the best trails and scenic parkland in Sheffield.

Registrations for the event, scheduled for Sunday 26 June, opened earlier this week and close to 1000 entries have already been taken, with organisers anticipating a quick sell out. Entry is priced at £24 for individuals, or £21 for pairs (per person).

The 11 timed stages make up 20k of the 24.5k route, with each section of the race broken down into separate stages. Each stage is raced and competitors will receive both results for each stage as well as a combined overall result.

The course moves through trails and scenery within the city limits and includes parts of Endcliffe Park, Ringlinlow, Limb Valley, Eccleshall Woods, Beauchief Golf Course, Chancet Woods, Graves Park, Lees Hall Golf Course, Meersbrook Park and Brincliffe Edge.

Doug Banks from organisers Kandoo Events told runABC North: “Now in its third year this is an event that showcases the natural beauty that Sheffield – now known as the outdoor city – possesses. Last year people travelled to the event from all over the UK from as far north as Perthshire in Scotland, and as far south as Kent and Devon. With even a competitor from France! It’s a good excuse to make a weekend of it"

Doug added: "The focus of the race is on the essence of running, the fun, the social vibe and the great scenery and camaraderie. What’s more, beer, wood-fired pizza and BBQ greets you at the end as a reward well earned."

This year the categories are again the same with individual and pair entries. The team competition is calculated on the top three pairs. More information is available at the event website.
