Following the success of last year’s RunForJo, organisers Race Best have made the decision to host another event this summer in her honour. The event will once again celebrate Jo’s belief that ‘far more unites us than divides us’ and will bring together thousands of local people at Oakwell Hall Country Park in West Yorkshire.
Jo’s life was tragically cut short in 2016 when she shot and fatally stabbed outside a library in Birstall. The thousands of tributes paid after her murder emphasised how respected and loved she was as an MP.
To commemorate and celebrate her life, a 2.5k family fun run and 6.5k were organised on Sunday 25 June last year – three days after what would have been her 43rd birthday. The event was a sell-out success and this year’s run, scheduled for Sunday 24 June, will bring people together on a meaningful weekend.
As with 2017, this year’s RunForJo event will follow a similar format with participants invited to take part across 2.5k and 6.5k distances. There will be music and surprises on the route and a party at the finish line, plus food stalls and a mascot’s race.
Individual entry is priced at £12, further information is available here.
