parkrun will further its global reach this weekend when two events in Russia are launched. Severnoye Tushino and Kolomenskoye, both of which are based in Moscow, will hold their opening events and means parkrun will now have a presence in 11 separate countries.
Severnoye Tushino is an administrative district that is located in the north west of Moscow, while Kolomenskoye is more central. Those taking part today can expect chilly conditions, with the weather forecast in Moscow expected to be around -5°C.
A recent post on the parkrun Facebook page read: "The big news today is that we start our first two Russian parkruns. It has been a pleasure to work with Simon, the newest parkrun Country Manager and his incredible team to get Russia off the ground. I am very sure that Russia will be as exceptional a parkrun destination as any of our other parkrunss."
This most recent expansion marks the 10th anniversary of parkrun, which began life under the name of Bushy Park Time Trial in 2004. You can view the parkrun Russia Facebook page here.
