Hundreds of runners are expected to descend upon Salford Quays for the annual Media City UK’s Santa Run. Entries for the event, due to take place on 30 November, are now open and organisers Sports Tours International are encouraging runners to get in the festive spirit by wearing a Santa suit.
Starting outside the new BBC offices at Salford Quays, the course moves into the Lowry Plaza at The Lowry Outlet Mall, passing through the Christmas Victorian Markets, past the Imperial War Museum and over the new bridge before finishing in MediaCityUK square. The distance will be approximately 5k.
New for this year’s event is the addition of an on-site ice rink, capable of holding 200 people. Organisers are hopeful that Santas will take to the ice after the race.
The event is also a great opportunity to raise money for charity in the lead up to Christmas. The Santa Run is priced at £15 for adults, £10 for children, which includes hire of the Santa suit. If you are using your suit then the entry fee for adults is £10 and £6 respectively.
