Hundreds of Salford Santas were treated to a crisp and sunny winter’s morning on Sunday (30 November) at the annual MediaCityUK Santa Run. The event, organised by Sports Tours International in association with retailer Sporting Pro, saw participants raise money for ITV’s Text Santa Appeal and other charitable causes.
The race started at MediaCityUK Square, outside the ITV offices in Salford. The Santas followed a route through the Lowry Plaza at The Lowry Outlet, over the bridge, past the Imperial War Museum and over the Manchester Ship Canal via the bridge before finishing back in MediaCityUK. Adding to the festive spirit, MediaCityUK’s magical ice rink was open exclusively for the first hour of the event for Santa runners, and children had the chance to write a letter to Father Christmas.
Sports Tours International race director Graham Jackson said: “It was great to see so many families and children get into the festive spirit and take part for charity. Everyone made a real effort with their outfits and made the event a day to remember. All runners finished the day a winner and helped raise much needed funds for their charities.”
In addition to the festive event, Sports Tours International also organise the ‘We Love Manchester 10K’, the ‘Club La Santa City of Salford 10K’ and the ‘Grand 10K at Aintree.’ For more information on these, visit the event website here.
